Encoder Band for Slip Rings of CT Scanner
One of the endless steel belt products that Crostarbelt produces is the encoder band, a critical component of the slip ring in a CT scanner. It's made of stainless steel endless belts, with many carefully punched precision holes. The precision endless steel belts are made of austenitic or precipitation-hardening stainless steel strips, which are leveled and straightened to optimal flatness and straightness, then welded precisely in the unique fixtures by high energy beam technology, including laser, Micro plasma, or TIG. The weld joints are smooth and flat with high strength.
THE APPLICATION
The slip ring is the CT scanner device that transfers power and data without physical cables connecting the stationary and rotating portions of the CT gantry. This clever design helps image acquisition without twisting cables as the scanner rotates. After the slip ring was
invented, image acquisition became more straightforward as the gantry can spin continuously, and there was no need for physical cables. This removed many of the limitations for CT before
introducing the slip ring. The third generation of CT scanners, the slip-ring-type, use brushes or contactless electromagnetic induction to provide power and access data images. It brought the CT scanner diagnosis to an upper level.
